Solutions From Every Angle

Energy Projects Demand Environmental
Work That Holds Up

The oil and gas industry operates under some of the most demanding environmental oversight in the country. From initial site assessments and hazardous materials investigations to ongoing compliance programs and regulatory agency coordination, the environmental requirements attached to energy projects are technical, layered, and unforgiving when managed poorly.
All Sides Environmental brings over 20 years of direct experience supporting energy sector projects, including upstream, midstream, and infrastructure work, with the regulatory knowledge, field capability, and agency relationships that complex sites require.
Whether it’s a Phase I ESA on an acquisition, permitting, SPCC support, or a remediation project on a legacy site, we know this sector.

Oil & Gas Environmental Work
Has No Margin for Error

An environmental misstep in oil and gas doesn’t just delay a project. It can trigger agency enforcement, financial penalties, and reputational damage that follows an operator for years. The right consultant makes that risk manageable from day one.

01

Phase I & II ESAs Built for Energy Site Complexity

Our ESAs are specifically scoped for the operational history and regulatory expectations of oil and gas sites, not a generic residential template applied to energy land.

02

SPCC and NPDES Compliance Support

We provide inspection support and documentation for ongoing compliance programs, including Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure plans and NPDES stormwater.

03

Direct Coordination With Federal and State Agencies

We have coordinated with the EPA, BLM, ACOE, and USFWS on energy projects nationwide. We’ve also been working with local agencies such as TXRRC and TCEQ for decades, bringing real agency relationship experience to every Texas engagement.

Who’ve Worked with Us

What environmental assessments are typically required before acquiring an oil and gas site?

Most acquisitions begin with a Phase I ESA to evaluate the property’s environmental history and identify any recognized environmental conditions. Depending on what the Phase I surfaces, which on energy sites can include prior spills, USTs, or hazardous materials use, a Phase II investigation with soil and groundwater sampling is often the logical next step before finalizing the purchase.

Do you help identify areas that may trigger environmental permitting?

Yes. If a route, pad, or expansion may involve wetlands, waters, or sensitive habitat, we provide ecological consulting to screen constraints and flag when state or federal consultation may be required. We’ll then outline practical next steps for your schedule and documentation.

What is an SPCC plan, and does my facility need one?

A Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure plan is a federally required document for facilities that store oil above certain threshold quantities and have the potential to discharge to navigable waters. If your facility meets those criteria under EPA regulations, an SPCC plan is required. We provide inspection support and documentation assistance for facilities operating under existing plans or in need of a new one.

Can you handle environmental work on remote or hard-to-access energy sites?

Yes. We have field experience across technically complex and geographically challenging sites throughout Texas and beyond. Remote access, hazardous conditions, and tight regulatory timelines are part of the work, not exceptions to it. We’ll discuss site logistics upfront so there are no surprises in the field.

What regulatory agencies do you have experience coordinating with on energy projects?

We have direct coordination experience with the EPA, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Coast Guard, FERC, Texas Railroad Commission, and TCEQ across a wide range of energy sector projects. That agency familiarity makes a real difference in how efficiently permitting and compliance processes move forward.

How do you handle environmental work on legacy sites with a complicated contamination history?

Legacy site work starts with a thorough review of available records, prior assessment reports, and regulatory correspondence, followed by a targeted field investigation to understand current conditions. From there, we develop a practical path to remediation and regulatory closure that accounts for both the site’s history and the client’s operational and financial priorities.
